Beach-Inspired Winter Wedding at Palisade Restaurant

Real Wedding

At first glance, this beach-inspired wedding may look like it took place in the midst of summer, but upon closer inspection you'll notice passersby all bundled up and maybe even a public holiday decoration or two. This couple wasn't going to let the groom's army schedule get in the way of hosting the beach wedding they always envisioned, so they settled on a December date and the bride set to work planning her dream waterside wedding. The day turned out to be unseasonably warm and went off without a hitch, proving that love truly knows no season.

From the bride:

"I met my husband, Dan Riggs in February 2013 on Match.com. We dated for two years long distance--he is active duty in the Army and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and I was living in Seattle. Dan proposed to me on my Birthday in January 2015; shortly after we learned that Dan was officially getting stationed in Alabama for flight school and had to report early March. On March 2nd 2015 on our way to Alabama, we did a quick court house wedding. We were so happy to finally be together forever and married, but I wanted a real wedding ceremony and celebration to share with my friends and family.

With Dan in flight school our schedule was (and still is) hectic and our free time is at the mercy of the Army, so it immediately made planning a wedding complicated. Initially, we wanted a beach wedding as we are relatively close to Florida but it wasn't in the cards for timing. We finally decided on a December wedding in Seattle since it fell on winter exodus. I worked hard for months planning the perfect wedding from a distance in Alabama. Truthfully, the only thing I wanted was to celebrate our love and happiness with our friends and family in the city that we adore. When the day finally came, we woke up to an unusually warm and sunny December day. The entire day and night went flawlessly in-spite of the fact that we did not do any type of rehearsals prior to the big day; it was all possible due to the high professionalism of all of the vendors and thanks to all of the friends and family that pitched in and helped. Our day was absolutely perfect, and exactly how we imagined!"
