Best of 2014: Sodo Park + Admiral's House

Admiral House

Best Place for a Large Gala Wedding + Best Quintessential Seattle-Area Reception:

Sodo Park by Herban Feast

Known for: A distinct event space with many of the original 1907 industrial details intact. High ceilings and a large square footage allow for endless decorating and layout options.

Words of Wisdom: "We always recommend that when planning a large gala wedding, couples start with the space first, then let it inform their other decisions," says Reese Rowe, sales and event services manager. "Once you've identified your perfect location, you can let it direct your thinking, influence the overall tone of your big day. Then grab your besties an begin to breathe your vision into it."

Best New Reception Site:

Admiral's House

Known for: This stately 1940s-era Magnolia mansion-turned-event-venue on Pier 91 was once owned by the U.S. Navy and home to the commanding admiral and his family while stationed at Sand Point Naval Air Station. It boasts beautiful views of downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, and the Elliot Bay Marina.

Words of Wisdom: "Your venue should be a place that means something to you as a couple," says Hallie Desautel, director of events for Oceanstar, the company that recently purchased the property. "Choose a place that carries with it the magic of the moment. The views, the history, a place that reminds you of when you first began dating - those are all things to consider."
