I Do, You Do and Now, We All Do
What a truly momentous moment in our state, and nation’s, history last month, when gay and lesbian people in four states, including Washington, were supported in their right to marry. The first day same-sex couples can marry here is Sunday, December 9 and in honor of that historic day, Seattle City Hall is being transformed into a wedding chapel, when local artists Jennifer Zeyl and Celeste Cooning will install temporary installations to gussy up the joint, and volunteer judges will marry those couples who were able to score a reservation and did their part by applying for a marriage license on Thursday, December 6.
Couples are welcome to invite their family and friends and bring their own cake and photographer. Wedding are scheduled to start at noon, but the Mayor’s Office says it will open up more time should need be there.
