Unexpected Lace Details

Wednesday, April 3 2013

It isn’t a wedding without a little touch of lace. Lace and weddings have walked hand in hand for so long, they are practically synonymous. However, using lace in unexpected places can add a lot of texture to your wedding palette. Consider details like your stationary, tabletop decor, fashion, floral design and cake and add a little something extra to tie these elements together. In doing so, you will create cohesive look for your wedding with a few simple yet effective choices. See some beautiful and subtle ways to add lace to your wedding below.

To add that something extra to your tabletop, think about using it for your menu instead of plain ribbon, wrapping it around votive candle holders, using it as a lush tablecloth overlay or to create delicate napkin holders like the photo above. Use vintage mismatched china and a crystal champagne coupe at every place setting for timeless elegance.

Lace is always seen in bridal fashion of course, but what about those bridesmaids’ dresses? Or the mother-in-laws to be? Brides can look at their accessories like shoes, veil and hair pieces.

Add a little something extra to your bridal bouquet. See if you can find some lace that coordinates well with your bridal gown and ask your florist to incorporate it into your bouquet wrap. You could also adorn your vases with some lace trim work.

Ask your bakery to include some lace details on your wedding cake for a gorgeous look your guests will want to gobble up.
While perhaps all of these ideas may not fit into your plans, simply pick out the details you find worthy of a little dressing up and add a touch of elegance to your wedding day.
