French is the language of love, and for Joyce Luu and Alex Sherry, Seattle is love’s location. Their romance began after meeting in French class during their sophomore year of high school. Seattleites through and through, they used their wedding to show out-of-town guests the beauty of where they grew up and fell in love. The historic MV Skansonia, docked on Lake Union, was a perfect way to do it, offering an unparalleled view of the water and that iconic Seattle skyline. Brave Seattle natives, Joyce and Alex took a chance on the June weather, and luck definitely shined on them. It was a gorgeous sunny day, perfect for an outdoor wedding on deck. The venue space was complemented by additional décor made by the maid of honor, staying on theme with the vintage nautical vibes that Seattle and the boat exude. The bridal party was all aboard with city pride as a bridesmaid read a quote on friendship by Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, met by the chagrin of the 49ers fans in attendance. Joyce and Alex created a memorable opportunity for cherishing roots and early beginnings, and as a perfect nod to their own from that one French class long ago, they danced their first dance to “La Vie en Rose,” celebrating a love 12 and a half years in the making.
