About

What is your style of photography?

With 14 years of experience shooting for weekly papers in Seattle and personally photographing over 500 weddings, my style is the fusion of photojournalism and fine art.

What is your price range of services?

Pricing customized to each event. Please contact me for details.

Will you be the one shooting the wedding or do you hire out other photographers as well?

One of the things I've learned over 14 years of shooting weddings is that I work best when trusting my own instincts. I personally photography *every* wedding. I use assistants for larger weddings, but I am always the photographer. I know exactly what I can deliver and would never want to represent another photographer's work. There is no way a 2nd photographer can shoot in the same style as the main photographer, and I've found most couples like having fewer people surrounding them during private and personal emotional moments. Because most people aren't used to being photographed for 6 to 9 hours at a time, I've found it's easy for me to blend in and be a fly on the wall. If people are hiring 2 photographers + 2 videographers, suddenly they find themselves intimidated by the entourage of strangers following their every move. Most of the compliments I receive include comments about my getting all these moments they weren't aware of because I am able to slip in and out of situations without being noticed, despite being 6'3"!

Do you shoot film and/or digital?

I have been shooting film since I was 10 years old, and it was the darkroom experience of developing and making prints that really got me hooked on photography. I have been shooting specific films and using favorite developers in order to create the look and tonality that me and my clients love. Black and white film in particular has a unique character, tonal range and elegance that is unique and beautiful. I also get high-res scans of all of my film, which allows me to not only do website slideshows for all of my clients, but allows me to design wedding albums using the latest software, to do any needed correction to the file, and to have an additional layer of backup. Everyone wins! I charge more for all-film weddings, but I usually shoot digitally and include many rolls of B&W film as a free additional because I love the look.

After the wedding, how long until the proofs are ready?

I have wedding websites posted in 3 weeks from the date of the wedding.

Is there anything else you would like me to know?

I was a pioneer of the wedding photojournalism style in Seattle, recently relocating to Minneapolis. I was a winner in PDN's "Top Knots" wedding photography magazine contest two years in a row. I've photographed weddings for 14 years, personally photographing over 500 weddings in a dozen countries all over the world. My years of graphic design experience and my lifelong dedication to photography have yielded a style that is simultaneously natural and deliberate. My clients find that my relaxed personality helps their day go smoothly and allows me to get everything they were hoping for a much more. Because photography is the only visual memoir of the wedding, it's important to find a style you like and a personality that clicks with the two of you! I want to create photographs that you will treasure the rest of your lives together!
