How would you describe what you do?

Where to start?! We are the detail oriented, creative-minded, meeting organizing, budget negotiating, keeping on track, planning for the unexpected, miracle-working wedding planners extraordinaire! We help you with whatever your needs are whether you got it, and just want to be a guest at your wedding, to literally walking into your wedding and seeing the design for the first time. In a nutshell, we make dreams come true!

How long have you been in the business?

Rebecca, our owner and lead planner has been involved in wedding planning for over 15 years now. Starting off in Hawaii and working for one of Oahu’s top planners, she learned everything she knows from that experience, and is now one of the top planners in Seattle, and Seattle’s only wedding planner specializing in Asian weddings.

Erika came on as an Associate Planner with New Creations about 2 years ago bringing her corporate experience as one of the Seahawks event coordinators with her. She is excellent at handling anything you throw at her, and if it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have social media.

Mandy came on just recently with New Creations in July. “Missing the crazy” was what she told Rebecca when she asked to come on with the company. As a past Catering Manager at the Washington Athletic Club and Rainier Club, Mandy has years of catering and special events experience to bring to the table. As a South Sound resident herself, she is Tacoma’s wedding planning specialist.

What is your philosophy on a wedding planners role in helping brides and grooms plan their wedding?

New Creations Planners are known for our friendliness. We truly try to get to know our couples on a personal level so we can offer them custom suggestions, and even someone to talk to when family dynamics get tough. We are our couples confidant, partner, and advocate on all stages through the planning process with always our couples best interest at heart. It is not our wedding; we don’t have a “type” of wedding we stick to. If you want it, we will make it happen.

Do you offer packages? If so, please describe.

We do offer packages, as we find the majority of our couples are looking for services that fall into 3 specific needs. Our base package, Final Planning & Day-of Coordination is for the couples that is extremely organized, has the time to devote to wedding planning and meeting with vendors, and knows how to execute their vision. We then step in at about the 3-month out mark to help with layout, begin timeline development, and as we get closer confirm all vendors, gather personal décor, co-run rehearsal with officiant, and full wedding-day coverage.

Our middle package is for the couple that has the time to devote to planning, but has no idea on their vision or how to bring those aspects to life. We partner with them to put together an inspiration board, sketch of tabletop, place-setting, and ceremony, setup an invitation design meeting, a floral design meeting, and a rental design meeting, and even put together a table mockup. This helps our visual couples see all the design aspects come to life.

Our Full Planning package is for the busy professional couples who really need someone to take the lead on which vendors to meet, next steps in the process, and guide them through from “We’re engaged” to “I do.” This service helps with everything from budgeting to negotiations, and everything in-between. We put together a vendor team and design elements to make your ideal wedding come to fruition.

What is your most popular package? Why?

Our most popular package by far is our Design Assistance, Final Planning & Day-of Coordination. This is our middle of the road service that offers the best of just needing a little extra help along with helping the vision come to life. It offers everything in our Final Planning & Day-of Coordination package with a few extras to guide you with design choices. We come alongside you to create a curated inspiration board, then, we partner with a sketch artist to bring the inspiration board to life. This allows our couples to see how the individual images are going to translate into their wedding day, and help find the appropriate vendors who have/can make these products. We also join in for an invitation design meeting, floral design meeting, rental design meeting, and a full table mockup.

How do you charge? What are your rates?

We charge a flat fee for each of our three main services. Associate Planners are a bit less expensive, but for our owner/lead of New Creations, the rates are $6,500 for Full Design & Planning, $3,900 for Design Assistance, Final Planning & Day-of Coordination, and $2,500 for Final Planning & Day-of Coordination.

Are you able to counsel couples on wedding etiquette?

Absolutely! One of our primary roles is to help you with the “dos” and “don’ts” of wedding planning procedures and “rules.” Nowadays, you are able to really make it your own by breaking out of the rules a bit. However, there are some classics that should never be broken.

Do you offer any other special services?

New Creations is Seattle’s only Wedding Planning Company specializing in Asian weddings. Our main specialties are Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Hawaiian and Samoan weddings, however we are learning Korean and Vietnamese customs as well. One of our Associate Planners also specializes in South Sound weddings, from Puyallup to Portland; she’s got you covered with everything you need to know about sourcing local vendors, and uncovering hidden venues.
