A Filipino-inspired styled shoot at Brix on Main came together to celebrate Filipino American History Month this past October, brought to life with help from a talented group of local Filipino-owned businesses. Many of the day's details paid homage to traditional Filipino wedding customs, and a modern design perspective integrated contemporary elegance. Florals crafted by Chara Floral were reminiscent of tropical islands, featuring monstera leaves and delicate orchids. Our couple wowed in their respective styles; the bride in her traditional Filipiniana paired puffed sleeves and carefully-embroidered lace detailing and our groom wowed in his Barong Tagalog, a traditional embroidered long-sleeve men often wear for formal occasions in the Philippines. During the staged ceremony, our couple exchanged arras as a signal of commitment in addition to draping a Rosary serving as a unity cord over their necks. A reception design explored further infusions of culture, featuring "sari-sari" in a charcuterie display with Filipino snacks and an ube-flavored cocktail. Featuring traditional cuisine was also an essential consideration that was served in the Kamayan style, a traditional form of enjoying a meal using banana leafs in lieu of plates and utensils. The day's entire design centered around showcasing the beauty and style of culture, as well as its versatility in modern design. Our couple kept things modern with rattan décor pieces and crisp florals, and a classic car moment was just the infusion of vintage that the day called for.
Filipino heritage is jubilant and full of joy, which is something Filipinos love to share with their community and something we prioritized in the design elements and details.
