Modern Elegance at Fremont Foundry
Nadia Rahim and Mark Conard were next-door neighbors, and first bonded when the groom’s roommate insisted on introducing himself. “We met in our apartment complex,” Nadia says. “I was literally the girl next door!” The bride and groom each knew the other was “the one” as soon as they figured out they could hold a steady conversation on everything from Harry Potter to sports. “We’ve been inseparable since then,” the bride says.
The couple’s multicultural, multiday wedding featured an Islamic nikah ceremony at The Sanctuary at Admiral on Thursday evening and a traditional Western wedding at the Fremont Foundry on Saturday. The two events varied in décor and attire as the nikah was complemented by color-rich florals, beaded floor pillows and romantic lantern lighting; the pair then wed at the Fremont Foundry underneath strings of twinkling lights and abundant vines as the groom’s youth minister officiated. Gold sequined tablecloths and lush hanging wreaths of greenery also lent modern, magical ambiance to the reception that followed.
The couple chose Ravishing Radish for catering, and served two of their favorite dishes, short ribs and salmon. To surprise out-of-towners, they also added an oyster bar during cocktail hour and wrapped up the night with lamb gyros and popcorn—a reflection of the couple’s love for Greek food and affinity for late-night snacks. And the groom even snuck in a sentimental beverage for the toasts. “Mark surprised me with my favorite wine, Rutherford Hills Petite Verdot,” Nadia says. “It was the winery we went to on our first trip together.”
