Party in the City: This Wedding Showed Off the 'True Magic' of Seattle
Ode to Home
Brooklyn Nelson and Dima Koyfman met at work in Seattle, so they decided to marry here even after moving to California together. They took every opportunity to show off the city where they met, from photo ops in Pioneer Square to guest favors from their beloved Storyville Coffee.
Planner Tamara Nicole says one of her favorite moments was the room reveal before the ceremony at Axis Pioneer Square. “For the reception, we balanced farm tables down the center of the room, surrounded by round tables with ivory linens for variety,” she says. The stationery and decor for the day made use of the rich colors of a Seattle autumn: Deep red accents, gold geometric shapes and black velvet elements were softened by textures like lace and cascading greenery. “Once we had the room all ready, I was so excited to show Brooke and Dima the space. The look on their faces was priceless.”
Brooklyn and Dima opted to serve dinner in a nontraditional style, designing several food stations based on some of their favorite meals for guests to try. One station had a farmers’ market theme. Another served street tacos, and a third offered mac and cheese. In another personal touch, the Russian layer cake served for dessert was a staple from Dima’s childhood and his Russian heritage. As the party kicked into high gear, the groom and two friends, who are professional dancers, performed an elaborate dance routine for the bride. The dance floor was full until the sparkler send-off. In other words, true magic.
