Emily Bemis is a planner, while her love, Evan Ruff, isn’t, so when Evan asked her to go on a hike with their dogs, Stella and Rosco, two weeks ahead of time, she admits she was already suspicious. Those original proposal plans were however spoiled when mosquitos, a closed trail and fog spoiled the hike itself. After finding another trailhead leading to the appropriately named Evan’s Lake, the prospective groom finally got the chance to get down on bended knee and propose.

Emily and Evan made a great team when it came to planning and executing their big day. The bride’s Pinterest board was packed with amazing ideas, and the groom, a handyman through and through, had the skills to make it happen. Thus, the big-day chandeliers featuring twinkling tea lights, marquee letter signs of their names, wooden table numbers and stunning wood pallet ceremony backdrop were all built by the couple themselves.

Each without siblings, the bride and groom weren’t bound by any heavy-duty traditions when they planned the wedding; instead, they wrote their own vows and elected not to have a bridal party as the couple didn’t want to single out anyone from their large group of friends.

Neither the bride nor the groom were drawn to traditional wedding fare, and the venue seemed a bit narrow for a buffet, so they elected to instead serve appetizers and flatbread pizza all night long. Feel-good food like crostini, pigs in a blanket and caprese skewers, along with Hello Robin ice cream sandwiches and cookies, made the menu uniquely theirs, and the couple named two signature cocktails after their dogs. They finished off with late-night snacks from Dick’s Drive-In.
