AJ & Chris

August 12, 2011 at the Georgetown Ballroom in Seattle

Chris Deco and AJ Mulcahey often joke that they met on a reality show that neither one of them was actually on. Though it wasn’t The Bachelor (they were working behind the scenes on a John Legend show taping, Chris managing a band set to appear on the network, AJ working for the record label), they did fall in love in perfect reality-show fashion, hard and fast. After moving from hometown Manhattan to Seattle in 2007, Chris proposed on a snowy Christmas tree farm on Mount Rainier to his love of seven years. Eager to show off their new West Coast home, the fun-loving pair spent two years planning an easygoing, casual fete in Georgetown, complete with a family-style dinner of Northwest salmon, mac ’n’ cheese and mini Reuben sandwiches, followed by dancing. Guests played with props outside the photo booth and partied into the wee hours, taking home personal bottles of Portland-based Deco rum, a fun remembrance of the epic bash. Chris, the marketing and events director at Seattle Bride publisher Tiger Oak Publications, and AJ, an elementary schoolteacher, make their home in West Seattle with their cat and two dogs.
