Alex & Sonney

Sept. 11, 2010 at The Canal in Ballard

Time was of the essence for Alex and Sonney's relationship, as Sonney's visa was nearing expiration, which would have forced him to head home to Australia. "We weren't sure how we would be able to be together," Alex says. "All we knew was we couldn't live without each other." So, in just three weeks, the couple, both 23, planned a simple, elegant soiree catered by Jewel Hospitality. In front of guests from around the world, Alex and Sonney were married near the Ballard Locks just in time. The "I dos" were followed by a romantic celebration, complete with candles, cupcakes and dancing. Alex, a dental hygienist, and Sonney, a construction worker, live in Sammamish.

Favorite moment: "I really loved the spontaneity of it all," Alex says. "Even though it happened so fast, I wouldn't change a thing. Everyone we love really came together, and we turned 'spur-of-the-moment' into elegant and fun."
