Audra & Jose

Audra Chavez + Jose Espinoza

February 12, 2011

Craven Farm, Snohomish

It all started with the cake: When bride Audra Chavez saw a faux bois-style birch cake at a consultation with Market Street Catering, Audra and now husband Jose Espinoza knew they had found the theme for their February 12, 2011 nuptials.

The DIY duo, who first met when Jose, a contractor, re-roofed Audra’s house and then got engaged a year later on their one-year anniversary, crafted many elements of their Northwest, woodsy-themed celebration. Jose hand-carved table numbers from chunks of wood for the reception tables while Audra scoured Etsy.com for a wood-burned engraved jewelry box for their rings. Other woodsy touches included a hand-carved ‘Here Comes the Bride’ and a moss-covered ring pillow carried down the aisle. After visiting many Snohomish-area locales, the couple settled on nearby (the bride's mother lived just minutes away) rustic Craven Farm in Snohomish for their ceremony and reception, starting their ceremony at precisely 1:43 p.m. because the numbers spell ‘I love you’ in text message form.

After a buffet dinner and dancing, the newlyweds cut into that four-tier birch cake, complete with a bird cake topper and a engraving of their initials. The newlyweds, who make their home in the Mill Creek area, are now eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child, due to arrive just after their first anniversary on February 18th.
