Brooklyn & Rick
Oct. 9, 2010 at United Methodist Church of Fall City and Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie
Brooklyn, 29, and Rick, 43, started dating in 2008 after meeting through work at a local shoe company. Rick, a product developer, was based in Seattle and Brooklyn, who now works with special-needs children, was based in Kansas, so they went back and forth for nine months before Brooklyn moved to Sammamish to be with her man. Rick proposed over a surprise picnic in 2009; inside the picnic basket was a small bag with the ring inside. The groom designed and made a pair of custom ivory ballet flat shoes for his beloved, complementing the understated, elegant wedding décor, including table settings embellished with place settings held in wine corks. The Sammamish couple dramatically departed the ceremony through a tunnel of lit sparklers held by guests, leaving their mark on the dusk sky.
Favorite moment: “My favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my dad,” Brooklyn says. “I joined Rick at the altar, and we both had beaming smiles and tears in our eyes.”
