Courtney & Andrew
A Northwest wedding was an obvious choice for this alpine-loving couple
Courtney Ryder Hammond and Andrew Michael Wagner both come from skiing families. Courtney, a 26-year-old video editor, grew up bombing down the slopes in Washington state, and Andrew, a 27-year-old rep in the outdoor industry, did the same in Michigan. The two hit it off while racing for the same ski team in Utah eight years ago, and together, they moved to Portland last winter. A Northwest wedding was an obvious choice for the alpine-loving couple, who chose Mountain Springs Lodge in Plain, Washington, at the base of the Cascades, for their September nuptials—a beautiful and fitting backdrop for their celebration, despite a haze from that summer’s lingering forest fires. Photographer Lea Peterson captured this intimate moment between the couple while friends and family boogied to the sounds of The Warren G. Hardings, a Seattle bluegrass band. “We took a break from dancing and escaped to the chairlift swing to sit down for a minute, look back at barn and feel overwhelmingly grateful for the wonderful people in our lives,” says Courtney.
