Farm-to-Table Style Wedding on Vashon Island
This next wedding shot by Laurel McConnell has all the charm one could want from a family-style farm affair. It’s relaxed, carefree and accented with lush, natural looking floral design. The lighthearted atmosphere is reflected in everything from the live music to the happy smiles of the bride, groom and their guests (both two and four-legged!). Locally sourced vegetarian food and picnic style seating set the tone for the rustic carriage house dinner. Even a little Pacific Northwest rain couldn’t dampen the day for this fun-loving Seattle couple.
From Laurel McConnell:
"The first thing to know about Maureen and Andrew is that they are hi-larious; it was their shared sense of humor that brought them together on a fateful bus ride to a college choir show. Andrew was watching cartoons on his laptop, Mo was hooked. Their sublime September 15th 2013 wedding day-spectacularly set against the backdrop of Vashon Island's Old Chaser Farm-was filled to the brim with laughter. The couple, as well as their family and friends, are full of personality and exuded pure joy. They started by getting ready in the drop-dead gorgeous farmhouse before venturing out to explore the grounds. In true Pacific Northwest fashion the rain started coming down mid-way through the ceremony, but umbrellas were quickly pulled out and the exuberant spirit amongst the guests could not be dampened down. The fun continued while the guests dined at picnic tables family style, elbow to elbow, in the rustic carriage house. Dinner, catered by the Corson Building, was completely vegetarian--delicious vegetarian--as well as being sustainable and locally sourced. Ravenna Bloom's lush creations of white, blush, green, and blue could not have more perfectly echoed natural island surroundings. The evening was capped off with a rockin' live band and a dance party for the ages. The whole peaceful day was such a delight and so fitting for such a fun-loving couple."
