Holly & Coulston

Oct. 2, 2010 with a ceremony at Villa Academy in Laurelhurst and reception at Hotel 1000 in Seattle

Holly, an equipment control coordinator, and Cole, a port engineer, met through a mutual friend at the California Maritime Academy, in Vallejo. Holly jetted north to Seattle upon completing her coursework and when Cole came to Seattle for a work stint, Holly offered up her couch and the mutual chemistry was ignited. Cole proposed on a Friday evening three years later by hiding her ring in the book How to Propose: Seattle Style. The couple played up the Seattle theme for California-based guests with invites emblazoned with a silhouette of the couple holding an umbrella, and with personalized Jones Soda favors. The ultra-modern décor included square glass vase centerpieces stuffed with kelly green wheatgrass and an assortment of eggplant and burnt orange roses and dahlias, crafted by Aria Style. The couple, both 26, live in Issaquah and are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child in August.

Favorite moment: “We had discussed not smashing the cake in each other’s face, but once it was in our hands, our plans changed,” say the couple. “So we both ended up with cake in our nose, hair and clothing. It went everywhere, but it was so fun!”
