Joyce & Ron

August 6, 2011 at Fox Farm on Vashon Island

California natives Joyce Tang and Ron Kwon first experimented with love while experimenting with science, working alongside each other in a college research lab. They dated for seven years before getting engaged during a trip to Seattle in December 2009. Shortly thereafter, the couple relocated to Seattle, inviting family and friends to enjoy the beauty of their newfound home at their outdoor nuptials on Vashon Island. Attired for the big day in a gown made by local designer Chrissy Wai Ching, Joyce, a research technician at Benaroya Research Institute, crafted homemade centerpieces out of tissue paper flowers as well as the salted caramel favors. After a casual fish taco dinner and pie dessert buffet, guests eagerly duked it out over a variety of lawn games, including bocce ball and croquet. The couple now lives in the Green Lake neighborhood (Ron is a bioengineer at nearby University of Washington) with their beloved pooch Kayla, who was also included in their island celebration.
