From different states (the bride’s family is from California, and groom’s is from Seattle) and of different denominational traditions, Green Lake couple Katrina Asinas and Christian Wong wanted to unite their loved ones on their big day, doing so with a Woodland Park Zoo reception filled with endless food, dancing, carousel rides and chocolate. Amidst a sea of teal, green and purple décor and animal accents, the food never stopped, from the ice cream truck outside the church to the popcorn bar during cocktail hour, catering to the more than 30 kids at their 240-guest celebration. In a nod to Christian’s five Chocolati chocolate and gift shops around town, the couple opted for a chocolate bar instead of a wedding cake with every kind of cocoa confection, including custom “Wong-ka” candies (their last name is Wong). After busting the wedding-cake piñata, guests rode the carousel and danced the feast right off, before sending the couple off via pedicab.
