When 38-year-old fashion designer Kerry Louise Clark walked into Toulouse Petit for a date with a man she met online, she never expected him to be her future husband. As soon as John Kevin Speake, 40, waved his hand in a friendly hello, Kerry felt as though she were greeting an old friend. After hours of talking, restaurant staff had to politely ask them to leave as they were closing for the evening. Eleven months later on 11/11/11 at 11:11 p.m., John, a graphic designer and massage therapist, proposed to Kerry while on vacation in Brooklyn, New York, and the next spring they were married at the spacious and charmingly rustic Sodo Park in Seattle. According to the bride, the venue held special symbolism for the couple: The facility used to plane lumber to make ships that sailed from Seattle’s ports, which represented the work each had done on their lives that is allowing them to go the distance together. To them, this wedding wasn’t just about joining their lives—it was a celebration of finding “the one,” no matter how long that takes. They chose a palette of green and white organic flowers from Bella Rugosa, and a classic vanilla cake from New Renaissance Cakes. Herban Feast catered dinner with a sit-down, family-style meal. And speaking of going the distance, for their honeymoon, the Queen Anne couple flew to an ultraromantic remote atoll in Tahiti.
