Kirstin & Shane
Sept. 18, 2010, at the Arctic Club Hotel in Seattle

Kirstin and Shane, both 31, first met in high school in 1997, when they were both campaigning to be governor—well, governor of the YMCA state youth government program, that is. Kirstin won the role, but 13 years later, attorney Shane won her heart, proposing on one knee on Christmas morning in 2009. The pair married in a candlelit ceremony officiated by the bride’s uncle at the Arctic Club, which was decorated with sweet Parisian-inspired, DIY details. The bride, a graduate student at the UW, made homemade fleur de sel caramel favors, crafted a seating chart using antique skeleton keys and used vintage playing cards for table numbers. Guests jived to tunes played by a brass swing band during the reception and then sent the newlyweds on their way by tossing sweet lavender held in cones made from antique French poetry book pages. The couple now make their home in Bothell.

Favorite moment: “Our favorite moment was the ceremony,” say the couple. “The soft lighting, incredible dome ceiling and harp music made everything feel enchanting and like a dream. It felt very us, personalized, sweet and full of laughs.”
