Lauren & Brian
July 30, 2011 on a friend’s Camano Island property
Lauren Ayers, an elementary school counselor and school psychologist, met her man, Brian Twehues, at the closest thing to recess for adults: the kickball field. In 2009, the couple ended up on the same kickball team through the Underdog Sports Leagues Seattle and two years later exchanged vows in a simple ceremony on a family friend’s Camano Island property, which was officiated by Lauren’s brother (ordained for the occasion) while her other brother serenaded guests on the ukulele. In a nod to Lauren’s work with kids, Brian’s best friend and sister-in-law read I Like You, a children’s book with personal significance for the couple. After the ceremony, the Wallingford newlyweds took a moment to soak it all in before joining their guests down the hill for a cocktail hour among gardens and fountains on the property. The rest of the night was spent in Northwest fashion in a rustic barn filled with home-catered food stations, a s’mores bar with homemade marshmallows infused with whiskey, and dancing in one giant party celebrating the fun-loving couple (who still play together, now onto bowling).
