Modern Love: Colorful Wedding at Novelty Hill-Januik Winery
A design-loving duo crafts a colorful celebration packed with perfect Pantone pinks
Shortly after grad school in 2013, interior designer Helen Shin, 26, and Chris Mount, 27, a systems engineer for eBay, embarked on a celebratory trip to Europe. The most memorable moment of the trip was in Paris, where Chris proposed after dinner in front of a sparkling Eiffel Tower. One month later, the longtime couple (they began dating in their senior year of high school in Olympia) moved to San Jose, California, for a job offer that Chris found hard to refuse.
Despite living in a new and different geographical area, the two knew that they wanted a Pacific Northwest wedding. They searched for a venue that could host an outdoor event and jived with the couple’s appreciation for modern architecture, landing quickly on Novelty Hill-Januik Winery in Woodinville. The muted, angular venue has a Northwest feel that served as the perfect backdrop for the bold pops in Helen and Chris’ color scheme. The winery’s on-site catering produced delectable food, which included smoked salmon croquettes, beef tartare and delicious Dungeness crab cakes, topping off a picture-perfect ceremony and reception.
