Nisha & Amir

August 14, 2011 at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California

When Fleurish florist Nisha Kelen and Amir Klein met by chance over drinks five years ago, the duo was quickly amazed at their eerily similar family histories: Both of their Hungarian fathers had emigrated from Budapest, their Jewish faiths aligned, and they even shared the same last name (Nisha’s father changed his when he arrived in the states). After toying with tying the knot for several years, the lovebirds decided on a destination-wedding weekend in Montecito at a luxurious ranch (Amir’s sister lives nearby, and Nisha is a “California girl at heart”), marrying on August 14, a day of love on the Jewish calendar. Surrounded by family and friends, the Vera Wang–clad bride met her groom halfway down the aisle, carrying two gardenias in honor of her deceased parents. The two then said “I do” under a handmade chuppah, which was followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing under the full moon in the ranch’s courtyard. The Seward Park couple now devotes their time to running Nisha’s floral business together.
