Stephanie & Ryan

Sept. 10, 2011, at a family home in Orondo

After growing up together in Monroe and spending countless hours at Lake Chelan and along the Columbia River, keeping the romance near the shores seemed fitting for Stephanie Smith and Ryan Clancy, especially after Ryan proposed on Sugarloaf Mountain overlooking Lake Wenatchee on October 8, 2010. On a searing 105-degree day, the childhood sweethearts gathered for a reunion-style celebration at a family vacation farmhouse in Orondo. Setting out kegs of beer and troughs of wine, a chalk-scribed sign invited guests to “Grab a jar and hit the bar” right from the start. Preceded down the aisle by their 7-month-old daughter, Kenadee, in an 1800s baby carriage, Stephanie arrived at the ceremony in style in her father’s red 1954 Ford pickup. The reception later commenced with the tux-clad groomsmen diving from the dock into the Columbia River. For supper, the 200 guests dined on mashed potatoes, slow-roasted beef and grilled chicken, and then engaged in friendly games of croquet and bocce ball, took boat rides across the Columbia, and danced late into the night before Stephanie, who is the owner of Northwest Coffee Co., and Ryan, a firefighter and EMT, departed to a second Orondo home for an after-party with remaining late-night revelers.
