When asked, “So, where’d you two meet?” Wallingford’s Taylor and Ryan Moss pause before one of them admits it was a bar, just waiting for the reaction before they follow up with, “Well, it’s not really like that.” When the couple meet at Havana on Capitol Hill—more nightclub than bar—both were under a self-imposed dating hiatus. Despite their best efforts to ignore it, the world shifted a little on its axis for the couple when they met, and they quickly realized that (single) life as they knew it was changed for good after their chance encounter. The two were married at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish, in a vintage-style wedding, complete with sunny yellow flowers and tiny cakes baked in Mason jars. Taylor, 26, a sign language interpreter, and Ryan, 28, creative director of a branding and marketing consulting agency, share a common faith, grounded in their community. To celebrate the people who support them, the couple asked each guest to select a stone from a basket as they entered the ceremony and take a moment to bestow a blessing on it for their marriage. Once the stones were collected by their ushers, the couple poured them into a large clear vase surrounding their unity candle, which now sits in a place of honor in their living room, as a reminder of the loving community that surrounds them.
