True to the PNW: A Seattle Ferry Wedding
When dreaming up their big day, Derek and Kristin knew a ceremony on the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island would be a meaningful and unique way to say "I do". Joined by their closest friends and family (and a few passengers!) they were married at the front of the ship, surrounded by the majesty of the Pacific Northwest. When the boat docked back in Seattle, the couple and their guests headed to the iconic Ristorante Picolinos for an intimate family-style reception. With pops of color, gray skies and a laid-back vibe, this wedding, captured by B. Jones Photography, is a true Seattle celebration.
From the bride:
"We were engaged while on vacation in Amsterdam for my birthday. Soon after we arrived, and after a day of exploring, we returned to our B&B to relax. I started straightening up the room while Derek was trying to talk to me, finally he managed to get my attention. I sat down next to him and he asked me to marry him.
For our wedding I wanted to incorporate soft colors and romantic touches. I love succulents and wanted to use unique textures in my bouquet. Since the ceremony was on a ferry with time and space restrictions, I wanted to make things semi-casual but fun.
My favorite details included wearing my great grandmother’s ring, my comfy TOMS and my beautiful bouquet. I also incorporated some DIY details like my veil, sash and our guestbook and cake topper. I had so much fun crafting the flowers on my veil! My dad helped perfect the petal assembly - it was special to share that with him.
Some of my favorite moments were seeing all of our family and friends having fun and seeing the groom for the first time."
