Seattle Vows: A Colorful & Romantic Ballroom Wedding At The Ruins

Tech workers Emily Heizer and Alex Moore have been to their fair share of weddings, so they wanted to make their big day a memorable one. The ballroom space at The Ruins proved the perfect setting. “We flipped the layout of the ballroom for our ceremony, and had the on-site florist create an altar against one of the room’s beautiful, hand-painted walls, instead of the typical layout using the stage,” says Emily. The Ruins took care of most of the decor and catering for the day, so the couple could focus on adding personal touches. A welcome table with Champagne greeted guests; the newlyweds chose one of their favorite songs, “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, to play after their first kiss. In lieu of guest favors, Emily and Alex made donations to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The couple hesitated when it came to hiring a videographer, but ultimately decided it would be worth the extra cost. The finished product “was just the right amount romantic, cinematic and Seattle,” says the bride, and something to be cherished.
