Beer Bars at Wedding Receptions
Ideas & Inspiration
The people of the great Northwest have long been known for their independent spirits, so it comes as no surprise that Seattle has become a hot spot for microbreweries. Consider tapping into Seattle's beer culture by highlighting this lighthearted libation into your reception.
"Beer puts people in a celebratory mood," says BreeAnn Gale of Pink Blossom Events, who coordinated the Pickering Barn wedding of Lindsay Mayther and Eric Olson. "We love to have fun more than we love trying to be formal," Eric says, and Lindsay adds, "Handing each person a beer with a cute koozie before the ceremony set the tone." Their beverage-insulating koozies were from Kotis Design in Lynnwood. "Since our guests made it to Issaquah in traffic on a hot Friday evening, the first thing we wanted to say was 'Thanks for coming, have a beer!'" Lindsay says. Another way you can personalize beer is to make it yourself at Gallaghers' Where-U-Brew in Edmonds. If you don't have time to brew your own, you're in luck: Pick a brew from The Pike Brewing Company and they'll customize the bottles.
Want to celebrate beer even more? "A lot of couples met in college, so beer, breweries and bars were a big part of their courtship," Gale says. "Favors are a great way to honor that." Custom bar coasters can be used as table markers, escort cards and even, well, coasters.
