Emerging Seattle Bridal Gown Designer

Called "Hot Under the Collar," Tamara Somerfield's judge-wowing design for Seattle Magazine's 2010 Seamless in Seattle fashion design contest incorporates 18 men's shirt collars and took 80 hours. It's part of her wedding collection called "Branches of Lilies," inspired by years of reconstructing thrift-store clothes. "I have always wanted to use more collars or have another long sleeve to play with," she says. "I love the luxurious cotton of men's shirts." The West Seattle-based mother of two manages Nancy's Sewing Basket on Queen Anne; she designs in her spare time. "I enjoy being a little different and am inspired to make non-traditional pieces."
