New Wedding Venues: Urban Oases
Seattle's best new wedding reception sites

Whether you’re an industrial-warehouse type of bride or a mysterious speakeasy-lovin’ gal, the new crop of wedding venues around town fits the bridal bill.

Located in an old Sian import furniture warehouse in white-hot reception land SoDo, the airy Within SoDo offers stunning downtown views from its rooftop deck. Owner Ben Abrams opened the 330-person total capacity space in July after installing the partially covered lounge (which has a stunning fireplace and cozy seating) and a kitchen for catering. The two adjoining downstairs rooms are separated by a rolling barn door, accented in urban chic style by hanging wood lanterns and a massive fish tank. (Available to rent by room, each $700, for a 10-hour block.)

Also in the South End, the ever-popular Herban Feast at SoDo Park compound gained more square footage with the addition of The Oasis at SoDo Park last fall. Decorated in a serene organic vibe with towering rock structures and plants, the venue can be rented on its own or as spillover from SoDo Park next door. The big selling point: The rolling back door opens to a paved patio behind the building designed specifically for food truck access. (100 seated, 200 standing reception; $1,500–$2,000 on weekends, available at half-price with rental of SoDo Park.)

Hidden underneath Ballard’s bustling Kolstrand Building (home to Staple & Fancy and The Walrus and The Carpenter restaurants) lies The Cellar, an aptly named wine storage facility by day and swanky speakeasy event venue by night. The dimly lit, intimate 600-square-foot space can hold as many as 45 people for small weddings or romantic rehearsal dinners, with catering provided by Shooby Doo Catering ($800/night with food and beverage minimum; book through sister venue Urban Light Studios.)
