Time to Cut the...Pie?
Ideas & Inspiration
First came the chocolate fountain, then came the candy jars. Now, it’s all about pies. Pie shops are springing up all over: Shoofly Pie Company, Seattle Pie Company and High 5 Pie, to name a few. And some couples, such as Mary Margaret Callahan and Seth Gerou, who married September 19, 2009, at Whidbey Island’s Greenbank Farm, have made the wedding dessert custom as American as, well, apple pie. To honor the part that Whidbey Pies Cafe—a pie and sandwich shop on the island—played in their romance, the duo dished out the shop’s cherry and apple pies alongside gourmet ice creams from Empire Ice Cream. A perfect finishing touch: one of the couple’s favorite quotes on the table, an allusion to Mary Margaret’s career as a math teacher: “Love is like pi—natural, irrational, and very important.”
