Wedding Colors: Lavender and Lemon
Planning Tips
Finding the perfect colors for your Big Day is "all about creating a balance, combining today's style with a concept you may already have," says Janel Schlitt, owner of Bellevue-based Occasions, a wedding design and planning company. Here, she shows how her clean, seasonal palette of lavender and lemon expresses the beauty of the day with edge, without sacrificing quintessential wedding decor. "By pairing a dominant, on-trend hue-lavender-with one that's a bit more understated and traditional-lemon-the look's updated, while still classic," Schlitt notes. It's an easy formula to follow, and lends itself to some fun, making for an unforgettable event and happily-ever-after memories.

Inspired by the season, Rainier cherries and blackberries add a hint of whimsy when layered with scabiosa, lisianthus, hydrangea, ageratum, marjoram, phlox, Matsumoto aster and eggplant calla lilies and wrapped in double-faced satin ribbon, by Aria Style. $200.

The subtle prints and hues in these ties "add a layer to a stylish statement, without becoming the statement piece-an important difference to note," Schlitt says. A crisp silk Ermenegildo Zegna tie, $175-$250, from Nordstrom, proves grooms just want to have fun.
