Celebration of Life for Reverend Mary Calhoun

The Seattle wedding community donated their time and talent to honor the memory of our friend and colleague.

Earlier this year, the Seattle wedding community was heartbroken to learn of the passing of Reverend Mary Calhoun, the beloved wedding officiant who has long been a pillar of the area. On a recent October weekend, industry professionals gathered at Sodo Park to remember their friend.

In a testament to the impact Mary made on the community, every aspect of the memorial was donated by experts in the wedding industry. Leslie Wheatley of Seattle Parties emceed the event, which opened with music by the Windsong Trio. Mary's husband, Harry Keinath, gave a eulogy, followed by a sacred remembrance led by officiant Annemarie Juhlian. Attendees were encouraged to go into the world and do something unexpectedly kind in Mary's honor.

Ksenia Popova and Michael Wansley both sang movingly, and then the microphone opened up for everyone to share memories of Mary. Among those who spoke were Reese Rowe and BJ Duft of Herban Feast, Loren Callahan of Alante Photography and several couples who were married by Mary.

During such difficult moments, it is heartwarming to see a community come together and share their time and talent in honor of a loved one. Photos and video of the memorial are below, along with the full list of donors and volunteers.
