Ash Higgins began the big day with surprise gifts for his bride-to-be, Jen Milliman, and his groomsmen, as a promise of the good times that would soon follow. The bride and groom each wrote a letter to one another, which they read before their intimate ceremony. The nuptials took place in the yard of Jen’s childhood home, under a wedding altar created by a close family friend and artist; that structure will remain as a permanent piece in her parents’ yard. The wood from the altar, old-growth Alaskan yellow cedar, was the same wood used for another piece by the same artist that was installed in Ash’s hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho. In a tribute to their lifelong love of boating, after becoming husband and wife, the newlyweds sailed with the wedding party on Lake Washington to a reception at the Seattle Tennis Club. A bustling dance floor, late-night food service and an espresso cart kept guests energized throughout the night, which concluded with a sparkler send-off as the couple departed in a vintage Rolls-Royce.
Special touches were added to create moments that will be cherished forever.
