Following their engagement last spring at a Napa Valley vineyard, one of the first things Hannah Cross and Alex Berry did was contact a florist. Foliage and floral arrangements were paramount in creating the wedding day of their dreams, because their vision was to conjure a secret garden in the middle of the city, complete with lush blooms inspired by Dutch floral still life paintings and playful nods to their last name of Berry. Hand-painted seating chart displays held rows of tasseled keychains, which tied into the idea of a secret garden hidden behind a locked door. After the couple pronounced their “I do’s,” the bride changed into a gold-fringed, flapper-style dress, dancing with her new husband to “All My Love” by George Ezra, the same song whose title she’d had engraved on the inside of Alex’s wedding band. The couple’s four-tiered cake was crowned with an heirloom cake topper that has been passed down through the generations of Hannah’s family, carrying 100 years of signatures and connecting them to loved ones past and present. An archway of sparklers bid adieu to the couple as they departed the reception, cheered on by a loving crowd of family and friends.
