KEEP IT CLASSIC

Big-day beauty advice: Communication is key when working with your beauty expert. To get the best results, Kathy Evans of Kirkland’s Kathy Evans Beauty Studio insists that brides ask questions (a lot of them) and have a clear picture of their wedding-day beauty vision. And while classic hair and makeup always help create timeless photos, be sure to also spend some time on your eyebrows. “These are the frame for your eyes; make them a part of your pre-wedding-day grooming,” she says.

Go-to products: Evans’ favorites include Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation for smooth all-day wear; Urban Decay Naked2 eye palette; and, Nars satin lip pencils for a flawless finish.

TIMING IS KEY

Big-day beauty advice: Having a professional beauty specialist on location can save much of the time and hassle that come with going to and from a salon. “There is so much more ‘me’ time for a bride, her bridesmaids and family at her gorgeous venue, where they can relax, laugh and talk about the incredible day waiting for them just outside the doors, and not stress about the logistics,” says Heidi Landers, cofounder of Bellevue’s Salon Maison. Taking the time to relax while already having a set plan in place with a stylist can make all the difference on the big day. Landers suggests brides show all the elements of their wedding ensemble to their beauty stylist, including dress, jewelry and any headpieces, in order to create a cohesive, true-to-you look.

Go-to products: Her favorite product is Salon Maison’s own primer, Pretty Me Bridal facial and eye primer, specifically created to stay perfect throughout ceremony and reception for worry-free wear.

INVEST IN THE BEST

Big-day beauty advice: Hiring a professional caterer and photographer seems like a no-brainer, and so should adding a professional makeup and hair artist to your wedding-day team. Kat Green of Kat Green Makeuplove knows that researching to find your beauty match is essential: Read reviews and gather referrals, seek out magazines and sleuth online to find an expert whose style fits your wedding-day dreams. “I believe the best tool in my kit is my intuition. I really listen to what my bride is telling and showing me, translating a vision she may have of herself,” says Green. Her best pre-wedding-day advice is to rest up and be careful not to get a wax or a trim too close to the date, as these changes can alter the look you and your expert decided on in your trial session.

Go-to products: Green’s favorites are Skin Illustrator for covering tattoos; Lip Tar matte lipstick by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics; and, TIGI dry shampoo for a lasting look.

STAY TRUE

Big-day beauty advice: Looking for inspiration for wedding hair and beauty can be daunting, but Michelle Pietromonaco, co-owner of SoDo-based Sorrida Salon, suggests staying simple. “There are hundreds of models and celebrities that are in the photos you choose for ideas, but the man at the end of that aisle chose you,” says the stylist. “We, as hair and makeup artists, strive to enhance your beauty to make you look like the best you possible.” Working in sync with your face structure, hair type and coloring will give the best result in photos, but Pietromonaco suggests staying away from out-of-the-ordinary changes, such as switching your hairstyle’s part.

Go-to products: Pietromonaco’s favorite beauty tools are Big Sexy Hair’s Powder Play for beautiful volume; plus, Ben Nye LiquiSet makeup sealant and Smashbox primer for a look that lasts from aisle to getaway car.
