After an eight-year romance and with modern love in mind, Shannon Hilby and Zachary Thompson set out to create a nontraditional, industrial-chic summer celebration with a relaxed vibe for family and friends. A change in venue—a previously secured space was double-booked, forcing the couple to look elsewhere weeks before their big day—proved serendipitous. Guests were greeted with a bright balloon arch, perfect for photo ops, when they arrived at the historic 101 space, located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square; lush greenery and bold florals accented its brick walls and exposed beams. Skillet, a longtime Capitol Hill hot spot provided food favorites and, in a nod to the couple’s favorite meal of the day (breakfast, what else?), served doughnuts alongside traditional cake for dessert.
