Pacific Northwest natives Lauren McKallor and Scott Alexander chose an idyllic Vashon Island setting for their September wedding in order to showcase the region’s beauty and natural bounty. The couple opted for subtle decor accented with thoughtful details, such as the simple but dramatic ceremony arch made of driftwood borrowed from nearby Point Robinson Park, to keep the focus on the stunning views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. “We were going for the casual-elegance feel. We wanted it to feel comfortable and casual for our guests, but to have some finer touches,” says Lauren.
Sophistication and whimsy combined in a truly unique celebration. The groom provided all of the rentals from his own rental company (Alexander Party Rentals), including the elegant Tidewater sailcloth tent. Starbuck, the venue’s resident miniature horse, was pressed into service as ring bearer, and the couple borrowed a friend’s 1967 Citroën 2CV to depart from their reception in vintage style. To send guests off with a sweet reminder of the day, friends and family members picked berries and made jam, which was packaged in jars and offered as favors at the end of the celebration.
