Legacy of Love: Classic Romance at Roche Harbor Resort

THE COUPLE: With (multiple) friends in common, it’s almost unbelievable Noelle Broom, an assistant at a philanthropic nonprofit, and Kurt Ohlendorf, owner of Cascade Medical Solutions, didn’t cross paths until 2011 when they were introduced at a memorial service. Even then, it was another year before they met again, only this time the pieces fell into place, and two years later, Kurt proposed on a sandy beach in Mexico.

FAMILY CONNECTION: Growing up spending summers at Summit Lake, Noelle had her heart set on the Roche Harbor Inn to infuse the couple’s big day with the same woodsy elegance as the beloved family retreat. “I grew up hearing tales of my great-grandparents’ parties at their summer home, with Frank Sinatra on in the background and the cabin decorated with salal greenery,” she says. “I wanted to throw a rustic, but elegant dinner worthy of the stories.” The pair turned to wedding planner Kaleb Norman James to bring this vision to life, focusing on a green and white color scheme accented by romantic lighting, abundant natural greenery and a locally-sourced feast that ran long into the night.
