A Relaxed Rustic-Chic Wedding Celebration At The Crockett Barn In Coupeville

Jes and Erik tied the knot during a beautiful autumn wedding affair at Crockett Farm. The big day featured a subdued color palette of creams and greys to highlight the natural beauty of the historic venue. The ceremony design was lit up firefly lighting, adding a romantic ambiance to the space, and the gorgeous reception showcased greenery and beauty galore, providing the perfect space for the newlyweds to celebrate with their guests.

From the bride:

"Finding an oasis from the Seattle hustle is what Erik and I wanted for our wedding. A place where we could get outside, slow down, and laugh with friends and family. Whidbey Island was our oasis - it charmed us with its humbling balance of farm country and beach town vibes. Its proximity to Seattle allowed our guests to curate their own experience - whether they wanted a long relaxing weekend common to a 'destination' wedding, or a quick jaunt from Seattle.

To emphasize the warm look of exposed beams in the 100+ year old Crockett Farm venue, we kept our wedding palette clean - the steel grey dinner linens added warm and gentle depth to the venue's white furniture, bridesmaids were in mismatched embellished blush, and all of the florals remained white. The only pop of color to compete with the aged timber came from the whimsy of strand lights entangled in decorative branches, and the maroon ties worn by the groom and groomsmen. Warm, welcoming and down to earth was our goal.

The ceremony took place in the bottom level of the venue; Its low ceilings, aged beams and original 18th century cobblestone floor created an intimate setting for the nearly 200 guests. We wanted everyone to feel captured by the warm suspense as our vows took place. Both our officiant and our processional violinist were dear friends.  Our vows were embarrassingly 'us'; we fumbled over ourselves and our tears, and clung to eachother's hands until we reached 'I do.' Erik surprised me at the end of his vows with a whispered promise. It was incredibly powerful to have our guests witness us in such a raw and vulnerable moment.

The rest of the evening was all about comfort and fun. We swayed gently to an old favorite for our first dance and encouraged guests to "sign" our guest book with polaroid selfies. Dinner was comprised of gourmet comfort foods, including a Beecher's Mac & Cheese Bar and Penn Cove mussels. The family style dinner was capped by fresh baked local pies & ice cream. And before the night wrapped with dancing, a side splitting speech led the crowd to chant 'Listen to Jes,' which will obviously remain as pivotal marital advice for us. :)"
