Seattle's Best Tie the Knot in a Picture Perfect, Maximalist Wedding at the Ruins

Loren Callahan, award-winning wedding photographer Alante Photography and Carla Schier, the talented owner of Seattle’s Honey Crumb Cake Studio, met in 2012 at a wedding registry party. Sparks flew instantly, but because the timing wasn’t right, the two took separate paths while continuing to work alongside each other. In a serendipitous turn of events in 2021, after both had navigated the end of previous relationships, Loren and Carla reunited. Recognizing the urgency of their connection, they were engaged within seven months and wed five months later. Their wedding day was a symphony of laughter and love. The meaningful ceremony mirrored both the date and the time of the couple’s first reunion. In a playful nod to the occasion, a friend dressed as an inflatable diplodocus dinosaur greeted guests. Carefully chosen songs, a special walk for the couple’s mothers and handwritten vows made the short ceremony profoundly significant. The romantic reception was a whimsical blend of vintage circus, Roaring Twenties speakeasy and French chateau. Inspired by the Dutch masters, the floral palette of rich crimson and burgundy, accented by dusty blue hues, brought the venue to life. Tablescapes adorned with compote bowls laden with grapes, mushrooms, stone fruit, variegated greenery and an array of florals created a visually captivating atmosphere. Further enhancing the celebration, an audio guest book shaped like ’80s-style neon pink lips allowed guests to leave priceless voice messages for the couple. Carla’s extraordinary cake artistry reflected the venue’s patina and the Dutch masters’ influence, featuring an “aged stone” finish and handmade sugar flowers, which tied seamlessly into the overall design.
