Abby Schachter and Rishi Sekar’s wedding was a lively, creative blending of two different backgrounds. A fun-filled weekend treated friends and family to delights like hiking, henna and s’mores around a bonfire as they all prepared for nuptial splendor in Creaky Tree Meadow, a picturesque feature of IslandWood’s 250-acre campus. The multicultural affair revealed the couple’s unique spin as they incorporated both Jewish and Hindu traditions throughout the entire weekend celebration. Abby glided down the grassy aisle in a wedding dress she made herself from her mother’s own wedding gown, never missing a step as she danced the hora with her husband and led a flash mob at their reception.. The couple collaborated with the catering team to create menus that highlighted both their heritages and their love of delicious, rich food: Friday’s fare of Southern barbecue brisket with all the fixings, Saturday’s tandoori-style salmon with heirloom peppers, and Sunday’s brunch of homemade bagels and lox had everyone raving as they celebrated the couple with their bellies and hearts full.
