Design-Savvy Wedding at The Museum of History & Industry

The pair met in 2010 when Jessica Fletcher joined coworkers for a Halloween party. There, she was introduced to Michael Sherman by friends who insisted they’d be a great match. Jessica, dressed as the Lucky Charms leprechaun, and Michael, dressed as a magician, immediately hit it off. (The groom, for the record, insists he’d planned on staying in that night; he credits his sister for hauling him out for the holiday. As he puts it, it was a matter of “right place, right time.”)

The design-savvy couple mixed clean graphics with the eclectic background of MOHAI. “We wanted our wedding party to be formal in classic tuxedos and long black dresses,” the bride explains. “It made it seem like a fun, fancy night out on the town.” The night wouldn’t have been complete without a toast at the couple’s favorite spot for drinks, so the wedding party made a stop at Triumph Bar for Champagne before the reception really got rolling.

Serving great food was important to the couple, so they turned to the catering team at Herban Feast for a dinner that felt special, with family-style service and antipasto platters. The drinks were also a focus, the bride says. “We wanted there to be plenty to go around and represent the Northwest. We had to have cans of Rainier beer because of the Rainier ‘R’ at MOHAI.” Those who stayed late were even treated to a post-dancing snack: a tater-tot bar.
